In this holiday spot for Hoosier Lotto, Natalie Labarre makes her official debut as a Hornet Director with a festive story, a classy series of animations and character explorations, and an interesting spin on the infinite zoom transition technique. Thematically, there are a lot of small stories to pack into the 30-second spot to make it feel representative of Indiana's diverse residents. Visually, there's a deliberate contrast between the abstract graphic backgrounds and the detailed hand-drawn characters to pull these micro-moments through and establish legibility. The result is a spot full of small-town charm and cheerful depth.
"There was a lot of storytelling to squish into a limited time. We had to hit story beats really fast and sell these little moments in a bite-sized way. Which was challenging but a really fun contrast."

One of the interesting aspects of this project according to Natalie is that it was a really international production. With animators from Italy to Spain to South Korea working on the spot, it was a challenging but fun opportunity to work with artists we normally wouldn't have been able to work with before.
