This film from Hornet Director Bee Grandinetti for Annovera is all about normalizing a very common topic for many women all around the globe: contraception. As Bee says, "Being able to work on a piece that talks about such an important topic for women in an open, natural, and inviting way was not only refreshing but necessary." Her goal was to tackle the subject in a genuine way with an honest tone, showing the real sides of a very natural thing so many women go through. With blunt text and stylized graphic design, she creates a refreshingly straightforward, non-sugarcoated video about a contraceptive vaginal ring product.
"So many women worry about contraception at some point in their lives. We're constantly struggling to find the solution that will work best for our own bodies and needs. But society has been feeding us all of these weird taboos connected to our bodies, which makes it really hard to have open conversations about incredibly basic and natural things. Vagina is a word that scares people and period blood is often portrayed as an alien, blue liquid in ads. We're tired of this and we need to normalize these conversations."

Bee, as a person, is someone who is both incredibly warm and fiercely outspoken. She’ll welcome anyone into her sphere with open arms. But she makes no time for prejudice or backward viewpoints. This mix of warmth and progressive gumption shows in her work—especially in this work for Annovera. Her characters are colorful and graphic and easy on the eye. But they’re also bold, spirited, and independent. In other words, her work is genuine—to its core.
"The world of pharmaceutical products tends to be very bleak, sterile, and boring. Being able to push for an approach this colorful and graphic felt like a very welcomed change. We need to talk about women's health in a more approachable, positive, friendly way. It was lovely to work on a film for a product I would actually use - not only because of all the interesting new features, but mostly because of how it presents itself to us in plain English, making room for us to proudly own our bodies."
