Hornet Animation is seeking a Designer to join the motion team. The motion team Designer must be meticulous, have the ability to communicate proactively, manage time accordingly based on each project’s specifications & resources, with passion, enthusiasm and the ability to technically & creatively realize the Director’s vision. The motion team Designer must be creatively driven, well versed in executing various design styles based on Directors’ creative direction, and have the ability to adapt to creative feedback.

Regarding COVID-19:

Hornet is seeking a Motion Designer to join our team!
The Motion Designer will work with our Motion Design Lead on on pitches, jobs, and internal projects. Candidates must be meticulous, have the ability to communicate proactively, manage time accordingly based on each project’s specifications & resources, and bring passion, enthusiasm, and the ability to technically and creatively realize the Director’s vision.
Design and create motion work for pitches, design special projects, including studio website and social media, and create, design, and animate as required.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $125,000
Regarding COVID-19:
For our immediate needs, this position will be remote. In the long term, this will be a hybrid role out of our Manhattan studio. Candidates must be flexible to travel between Manhattan and our Ridgewood Studio from time to time.
- Bachelor (4-Year) degree with a degree in Fine Arts, such as Illustration, Motion / Graphic Design, or Film
-Relevant work experience as a Motion Designer in the commercial industry
-Extensive experience with digital technology and software packages (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and C4D)
-Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and compositing
-Print and Digital Media experience
-Creative mind with strong storytelling skills
-Overall positive attitude, demeanor, that will contribute to a collaborative studio environment
-Desire to learn, develop and discover new techniques through R&D
-Ability to take direction and feedback from Directors and Producers
-Keen eye for detail and a critical mind, with patience and concentration
-High level of self-motivation, commitment and dedication
-Strong organizational, time management and communication skills, both written and verbal
-Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and to maintain studio standards and work within studio pipeline

Hornet operates on a Hybrid Schedule ( 3 day in office / 2 day remote). While remote candidates will be considered, there is preference to those who are local to NY Metro area and can collaborate with our team in person. When working from home, interns must be set up with their own hardware and equipment required for their specific internship. Software will be supplied by Hornet.

The staff Jr. Pipeline Director must be meticulous, have the ability to communicate proactively, manage time accordingly based on each project’s specifications & resources, with passion, enthusiasm and the ability to technically & creatively realize the goals of the project and/or overarching needs of Hornet’s CG production pipeline and infrastructure. The staff Jr. Pipeline Director must demonstrate sound technical problem solving abilities commensurate with continual development / continuous integration méthodologies. Additionally, they must demonstrate abilities to interface with and derive solutions that are within the acceptable parameters of the creative needs of the studio, its artists, and propose / execute solutions that are within the established best practice of the various software packages listed below.
Salary Range: $65K - $90K
